Court Orders ICPC To Take Over Dibu Ojerinde’s Properties .

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of Gravity FM, Igboho and some properties belonging to Ex-Registrar of Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde.
According to the forfeiture order published on Friday April 24, in the PUNCH newspaper, Justice Ijeoma L. Ojukwu ruled that each of the said properties was acquired with public funds which represents proceeds of unlawful corrupt activities.
The order reads that any person interested in the said properties should appear before the court to show cause within fourteen days of the publication why a final forfeiture order should not be made in favor of the Federal government.
Urbantrends also gathered that the court ordered that the properties be managed and controlled by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

The ICPC has appointed Mr David Igbodo, AIG (Rtd) as Interim Administrator pending further directives from the court.

It reads in part “An order of this Honourable court is hereby made for the interim forfeiture to the Federal Republic of Nigeria of all the immovable properties listed in A attached to the affidavit in support and marked by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) upon reasonable suspicion that each of the said properties was acquired with public funds and/or represents the proceeds of unlawful corrupt activities.
“An interim order of this Honourable Court is hereby made that the properties attached/forfeited ad-interim and be managed and controlled by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.”


Some of the properties are Oke Afin Hostels located at Opposite Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Sapati International School Buildings and Premises located at Ajase Ipo Road, Ilorin, Kwara State, Doyin Filling Station along Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Doyin Gas, Ibadan, Soka Filling Station, Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Gravity FM Radio Station, Igboho, Tejumola House, Ikeja, Mansion at No 14 Yobe close, Maitama Abuja and Properties in South Africa.
Shares in banks, fixed deposits and money in bank accounts were also part of the properties listed to be forfeited.

WHO IS PROFESSOR DIBU OJERINDE?

Born in Igboho, Oorelope local government in the Oke Ogun Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. He attended Wesley College, Ibadan where he received the Teacher Grade II Certificate Examinations (TC II) in 1964. He later attended Adeyemi College of Education where he obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (N.C. E) in 1968.

He proceeded to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University for a Bachelor of Science (B.sc) degree in education in 1973 and a Master of education (M. Ed) in 1975. He later proceeded to Cornell University, Ithaca, New York where he received a Ph. D degree in Educational measurement in 1978.


He became a Professor of Tests and Measurement in October 1986. He began his career as a secondary school teacher in 1965 at Laogun Methodist Grammar School. He left to Ibada Iseyin District Grammar School, Iseyin in 1970 and later College of Advanced Studies, Kano in 1975.


He joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1973 and was appointed a Director of Institute of Education in the same university in 1984, a tenure that ended in 1990.

He is the first Nigerian Professor of Tests and Measurement. In 1990, he was appointed as the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, National Primary Education Commission (NPEC), a tenure that elapsed in 1991.


In 1991 he was appointed as the Director and Consultant at Centre for Educational Measurement (CEM), Federal Ministry of Education. After his tenure in 1992, he was appointed as the Registrar of the National Board for Educational Measurement, NBEM.

He held this position for 8 years (1999 – 2007). After his tenure in 2007, he was appointed as Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, a position he held for 5 years (2007-2012) and was reappointed on 10 April 2012.
