The Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun has been hailed by the Nigerian Youth Parliament over the quick response to the spread of covid-19 in the state.

The Parliament lauded the initiative of the state government in the establishment of test centers across the state, procurement of necessary medical facilities needed by health workers and patients of Covid-19, as well as the provision and distribution of palliatives to the youths to cushion the effects of the lockdown.

The chief whip of the Parliament, Olusesi Akinoso, who represents Ogun Central at the House described the efforts of Gov. Abiodun in controlling the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic as commendable.

This was contained in a Press Release signed by the Parliament and made available to Newsmen.

The statement reads, "The youths in Nigeria wishes to, as matter of necessity, thank the Federal Government, President Muhammad Buhari and also, the State Governors, especially the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for their efforts in controlling the spread of Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic in Ogun State and in Nigeria generally.

"The sit-at-home directive further proved responsiveness and determination of the government to slow the spread of the virus as well as map out a strategy to defeat it. We also acknowledge the efforts of the Ogun State government who issued an executive proclamation, placing a ban on public gatherings and use of nose covers with law enforcement agents saddled with the responsibility to ensure its compliance.

"It is important to thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for the approval and distribution of relief materials to over 100,00 (One Hundred Thousand) youths during the lockdown which played a huge role in reducing the burden that the lockdown comes with.

"We commend the Governor's efforts in the establishment of Test Centers, and the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Infrared Thermometers, Multi-Parameters, along with Intensive Care Equipment like Ventilators, ICU Beds, Infusion Pumps, Signs Monitor, Suctioning Machine etc., has found its way into the pages of history as parts of the efforts of the state government to combat covid-19.

"While acknowledging the efforts of the government, we also appreciate the kind gestures of individuals and corporations via donations in the fight against Covid-19.

"In this trying time of the nation, we urge all Nigerians to obey all medical and safety guidelines provided by the Federal Ministry of Health." he said.

The Parliament has however promised to render its support as always to the government, saying that governance is the collective efforts of stakeholders.
