Man In Critical Condition As A Result of Stray Bullet By Custom Officer





Men of Nigeria Customs Service, and smugglers in Ogun State has again clashed today at Oja Odan in Yewa South area of Ogun State, leaving one innocent man in a critical injury as a result of stray bullet by a custom officer.

Reacting to the incident, A member of the State  House of Assembly,  also the Chairman Committee on Environment, Hon. Wahab Haruna Egungbohun expressed concern over the incident as a man identified as Idowu Moses was rushed to hospital for medical attention.


Idowu Moses was said to be the chairman of Nigerian Association of Panel Beaters , Oja Odan branch
Information had it that Moses and another artisan around his office was hits by stray bullet by one officer identified as Jalo and Officer Abdulahi of the custom service led the operation. Idowu Moses was allegedly shoot by custom Officer while they are trying to chase smugglers in the community.
Moses was said to be inside his shop before stray bullet by a custom Officer hitted him and he's in critical condition now in hospital.


The Lawmaker, representing Ketu Constituency (II) in Yewa North Local Government also hinted that the Nigeria Customs Service is acting beyond adding that its duties is not to be killing or injure innocent citizens.

Hon. Wahab frowned at the unprofessional act of Nigeria Customs saying that they are only mandated by the law to arrest and arraign smugglers in their pursuit to protect national integrity.

He added that it is not part of their duty to pursue smugglers to the town and start shooting saying that innocent souls are most times killed while shooting in the name of chasing smugglers.

Wahab therefore appealed to the federal and state government to as a matter of urgency take a look at the way men of Nigeria Customs discharging their duty, saying that it's becoming unbearable for people again as community can no longer continue to be loosing innocent souls in the hands of customs every day.
