World Cycling Day : Ogun Govt, Perfect Assurance Academy Admonish Nigerians To Do Exercise


As the world celebrated World Cycling Day, the Ogun government and the Perfect Assurance Academy in Ilaro have admonished Nigerians to cultivate the habit of regular exercise of the body system.
Speaking after a cycling race to commemorate the day,  the State Commissioner for Transportation, Gbenga Dairo , said cycling should be considered as a model of transportation to work or school. 
Dairo noted that cycling encompassed total development of the body.  He further stated that government will consider bicycle riding as a major means of transportation in the state.

He implored all road users to know that bicycle riders have their own right on the highway, they should be respected and create space for them for easy riding.

In a similar development, the Proprietor of Perfect Assurance Academy in Ilaro, Mr Yinusa Babatunde, who also join the rest of the world to celebrate 2021 Cycling Day celebration in conjunction with the FRSC, Ilaro Outpost, hinted that the purpose was to join the rest of the world to appreciate the importance of cycling to young minds.

He explained that no fewer than 20 students participated in the exercise.

The school Proprietor who spoke to Journalists shortly after the exercise said he observed that regular cycling stimulates and improves the condition of the heart, lungs and circulation, adding that it also reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Mr Babatunde revealed that the exercise would help the students in discovering their talents and would also help them in maintaining balance.

His words "Cycling strengthens heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels."

He therefore enjoined all the schools proprietors and proprietress that "Cycling is one of the sport that must be encouraged in schools to identify talents who will do Nigeria proud.

He further added that Nigeria is yet to register her presence in Cycling as a sport. So, this is one of the ways to expose young minds to cycling.
