Why I visited President Obasanjo, Adegbola

A governorship hopeful in Ogun State, Prince John Adegbola has paid a visit to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence, located at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Abeokuta, the state capital.

Adegbola who spoke to our correspondent shortly after the visit described Obasanjo as an elder statesman, whose advice and contributions on governance would remain relevant to the development of the country.

He added that the meeting was just a meeting between father and son.

The meeting appeared to be first time he is meeting with Obasanjo since he has declared his intention to contest the gubernatorial election in the state and he was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Adegbola.

According to him "I am contesting under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, asides that, Obasanjo was a former President, an elder statesman and a stakeholder in Ogun State and Nigeria politics, so the meeting was just a courtesy call and consultation.

"I also seized the opportunity to commiserate with him on the demise of the Olowu of Owu", Adegbola revealed.
