Health insurance scheme: ogun Young farmers laud Gov Abiodun


Ogun Young Farmers has commended the Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for paying N200m grant for basic healthcare provision fund for the poor.

This was disclosed at the launch of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and commencement of the Informal Sector Health Insurance Scheme at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Thursday.

The event witnessed artisans, students, traditional rulers, market men and women, farmers, different Unions in the state.

Governor Abiodun in his address noted that the formal take-off of the health insurance scheme was another step towards capturing the all-important sector in the social health safety.

Some beneficiaries including young farmers expressed hope that the scheme would serve as a cushion against any financial burden.

According to Adebukola Jamiu Kolawole, youth farmers youths farmers in Ijebu ode and Ogun East, lauded the program.

His words "This is a very laudable programme by His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, all farmers we appreciate this health scheme, health is wealth like they say.'"

"Farmers use energy to work in farm and there's no way the energy will be weak and once their is health insurance it's a good initiative so that farmers can just go to the hospital to treat his /herself in a good way which is a token on 1,000 and even as a family 4,000, it's a very good initiative."

"The State Government should subsidized , their are some farmers that they won't be able to raise such amount, they can be part of the vulnerable people to enjoy this programme and also they can work with farmers group and give them location to do the registration for farmers in a easy way."

Another beneficiary Emmanuel Ajao, cluster 11 tomapep farmers in Ewekoro, described it as nice step in the right direction.

"I want to say it's a nice step in the right direction, we say health is wealth, having done this , if everyone can benefit from it , I think it will be a better thing for the farmers at least people will be less stressed with the fatigue that comes after the days job you can have somewhere you will get you medication and treatment'".

A female farmer, Identified as Afolabi oluwaseyi thanked His Excellency for the initiative.

"I say a very big thank you to His Excellency for doing this for us, not only this for giving us a good health to community and Ogun State entirely, and we also tell our people about this programme, how they can benefit from this , health benefits in it and also what it entails, I'm a processor and I'm also a farmer. The programme is a good program that the young farmers can be able to , 1000 per month is just like a token, because of our health, it's good program for us. We really appreciate Gov Abiodun for this wonderful program that he gave to us at this particular time."

She therefore said government should make sure that key into the program.
