How Tella scheming to ruin APC chance in Abeokuta North ahead of 2023 elections

...fakes constituents with phony Gov's endorsement

Facts have emerged on how Prince Tunde Tella, immediate past caretaker Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government is scheming to foist himself on the hierarchy of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 General Elections by using fake endorsement from Governor Dapo Abiodun and other party bigwigs in Abeokuta North State Constituency.

Recall that Tella, having nursed ambition of becoming Member of Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Abeokuta North State Constituency prior to the Ogun State Local Government Elections held in 2021, frustrated political ambitions and efforts of some Chairmanship Aspirants from Oke-Ogun zone of Abeokuta North in consideration of the Assembly Seat ticket.

Tella allegedly put up undue machinations against Chairmanship Aspirants from Oke Ogun zone, including Hon. Wale Bello, Hon. Motun Adejumo and one Hon. Akande by ensuring that none of them got APC ticket. He even went as far as using some Chiefs and Monarchs to petition APC Secretariat in the State and Office of Governor to cast doubt on the origin and citizenship of Hon. Wale Bello, thereby disqualifying Bello to contest the Chairmanship election in the Local Government Elections conducted in Ogun State last year.

It is of great interest that Abeokuta North Local Government is divided into four political zones, namely, Oke-Ona zone, Gbagura zone, Owu zone and Oke-Ogun zone with serious zoning arrangements on all elective posts as the Council Chairman, Vice Chairman, ruling Party Chairman such as APC, State Constituency Seat, among others are being shared among the four zones.

As of now, Oke-Ogun has Prince Tella as immediate past caretaker Chairman of the Council and Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Senatorial District as well as Ayo Oluajo as Vice Chairman, currently in Abeokuta North Local Council, the political reasoning and calculations on ground do not only frown at possible move by Tella to seek APC ticket for Abeokuta North State Constituency in 2023, but can also ruin the chance of APC knowing full well that the tree urban zones of Oke-Ona, Gbagura and Owu may be indisposed to such political arrangement.

But, in order to corner the Legislative Seat, Prince Tella has been dropping names of Governor Dapo Abiodun and APC Executive as being endorsed his political ambition already, saying he remains the candidate to beat in the 2023 General Elections despite his alleged political unpopularity which many party faithful within APC family in Abeokuta North Local Government believe, would ruin the chances of APC in Abeokuta North if eventually fielded in the General Elections, come 2023.

Speaking on current political reasoning and calculations in Abeokuta North and Oke-Ogun zone, Kayode Ikumapayi from Oke-Ogun Progressives Congress, condemned the political machinations of Prince Tella at the detriment of All Progressives Congress in Oke-Ogun and Abeokuta North, saying if Prince Tella was allowed to contest, APC might lose the State Constituency to the opposition again.

Ikumapayi declared that Prince Tella had caused disunity and infighting within the APC family with his selfishness, especially in Oke-Ogun and may not be the right candidate for the Seat, adding that "Prince Tella is using his selfish ambition to cause confusion in the party and the leadership of the Party at the State level must act fast.

"Becuase he and his co-travellers are now selfishly working for his emergence as sole Candidate for Abeokuta North State Constituency Seat, he is just dropping names of big people in our party, including Governor Dapo Abiodun MFR and others, to have endorsed his ambition which is not true. He only uses this phony endorsement to deceive people and constituents so that they will think is that popular.

"For instance, he is brandishing fake names and signatures of people, including the names and signatures of Oke-Ogun political ward leaders such as Chief Hammed Taiwo, Captain Ige, Prince Timmy, Prince Lekan Salako, Hon Sunday Akintade, Hon Abiola Adio, Hon Fakorede, Hon Segun Akinyemi, Hon Semiu Akintade, among others, to have endorsed him to run for the Abeokuta North State Constituency Seat.

"This is not the first time he would collate fake names and signatures. He did same thing to disqualify Hon. Wale Bello, APC Chairmanship Aspirant, claiming that he is not from Oke-Ogun by collating fake names and signatures through some Chiefs and Monarchs until APC disqualified Hon. Bello from contesting Chairmanship Seat in the last year Local Government Elections.

"Tella's antics have been exposed now and he cannot foist himself unpopularly on us. We are going to allow democracy to take its course and allow every Aspirant for all political seats to contest. Anything short of that, would amount to APC and all of us, losing Abeokuta North Local Government entirely", he concluded.
