10 Oyo Assembly Lawmakers Who May Not Return In 2023

Except if they contest under the platform of another political party or they are substituted later, 10 members of the Oyo State House of Assembly will not return to the floor of the House for the 10th Assembly in 2023, urbantrendies reports.

These lawmakers failed to secure return tickets of their political parties following the completion of primaries of the political parties across the state.

They are 8 lawmakers from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the state and 2 lawmakers from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

They are Honourable Fatokun Ayotunde – Akinyele I, Honourable Akeem Obadara – Ibadan North West, Honourable Oyekunle Fola – Ibadan North I, Honourable Olamide Olagoke – Ibadan North East I, Honourable Abdullahi Ademola Rasak – Ibadan South East I, Honourable Adedibu Hakeem A. – Iwajowa, Honourable Francis A. Adetunji – Oluyole, Honorable Adebunmi L. Olayiwola – Oorelope.

Others are Honorable Oluwaseyi Adisa – Afijio and  Honourable Oyeleke Simon Adegbola – Ogo Oluwa/Surulere who are APC members.

URBANTRENDIES  gathered that PDP lawmakers who emerged as candidates have been given the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, form by their political party.

Speaking with a chieftain of the PDP who wants anonymity, he said some of the lawmakers failed to get the ticket because of their low level of performance at their various constituencies while some were not on the same page with the Governor of the state.

He added that internal and consensus arrangement from home denied most PDP lawmakers the ticket.

“Yes, in Democracy, we can’t rule things like that out. You can’t expect everyone of them to get return ticket.

“They come from different Constituencies and they didn’t perform the same way. While performance was used to decide some, not belonging to where Governor Seyi Makinde is affected some. But the bottom line is that’s Democracy.”
