New NANS Natl Deputy Senate President, Elvis On A Thank You Visit To Campuses


The newly elected National Deputy Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Ekundina Segun Elvis has commenced his appreciation tour to all the campuses in a bid to show his gratitude to the entirety of the Nigerian Students.
Elvis said the tour was to appreciate students for entrusting him with the mandate to serve them in the capacity of the Deputy Senate President by voting him massively at the just concluded 2022 NANS National Convention held on Sunday, 3rd of September, 2022 in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
He started the appreciation tour by visiting the prestigious Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta where he and his team were welcomed by the Students' Union President, Comrade Ajani Sodiq Damilola (Optimum) alongside with his executives and teeming Students of the campus.
Comr. Optimum while playing host to the Deputy Senate President and his entourage at the Students' Union Secretariat of the institution, congratulated Comrade Elvis on his new office, he stated that the victory is a well deserved one and ever worthy to be celebrated by the entire Students' constituency in Ogun State and Nigeria at large. 
He described Comrade Elvis who was a two term Vice-Chairman of NANS, Ogun JCC as a freedom fighter who has always been agitating and defending the interest of the Nigerian Students at every point in time. His victory at the national level is a testament to the quality and premium services deliveries he rendered in the previous offices he has held.
The president also used the opportunity to relate the challenges facing the institution to the Usman Barambu led administration through the Deputy Senate President. He highlighted issues which include but not limited to;
✓Inadequate funding. ✓Insufficuent Accreditation of some courses.
✓Deplorable state of the road leading to the institution
✓Inadequate electricity in the campus environment.
He appealed to the NANS National body to kindly see to the issues and help channel their requests to the necessary quarters.

While reacting, Comrade Elvis appreciated the SUG President and his executives for the unalloyed support they have been giving to him since the time he has been in office as the Vice-Chairman of the JCC, during the campaign and the election which brought him in as the DSP of NANS National. 

With the support and cooperation of the NANS National President, he reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of the Nigerian Students at all times. He also stated his readiness to discharge his sacred official duties as the DSP of NANS to the best of his ability.

"The mandate given to me is a mandate to serve Nigerian Students which I have been doing before, no doubt this office is a charge for me to do more" Comrade Elvis said.

While reacting to the issues raised by the S.U. President, Comrade Elvis stated that work is in progress about some of the issues, while others would be brought to the notice of the neccesary authorities.

He also interphased with the PRO of the institution during which wayfoward discussions were made to enhance welfarism of the Students. 

He used the opportunity to also call on the National Assembly to as a matter of urgency see to the agitations of NANS most especially lingering ASUU strike which has become menace to all university students. "In a means of further call the attention of the Federal government to the need to attend to the demands of ASUU, we would be staging a peaceful protest tommorow, 13th of September, 2022" Comrade Elvis said.

Along with his entourage, he also honoured the invitation. of the National Association of Ondo state Students(NAOSS) in the institution by attending their annual NAOSS day.

He encouraged students of the institution to be of good conduct and focus on their primary assignment on campus.
