Aderinokun Remains PDP Ogun Central Senatorial Candidate, Says Lawyer

Stanly Imhanruor Esq., Counsel to People's Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate, Olumide Aderinokun, has stated that by the virtue of the judgement of the Federal High Court which sat today in Abeokuta, his client remains the party flag bearer for Ogun central senatorial district.

Imhanruor in an exclusive interview with The News Ville after the judgement stated that Justice O O Oguntoyinbo ruled that Olumide Aderinokun was duly nominated having satisfied the law and therefore stands to contest in the election.

"Sometime in June, one Dada Kolawola filed a suite against PDP and INEC. They were at the point of arguing the originating summon and my client instructed me that he join the suit because he is a nominated candidate of the people Democratic Party.

"We were in court this morning, the court struck out their case because their suit is not a competent suit. They approach the court, asking the court to declare him, (Engr. Dada Kolawole Oduntan ) as the dully nominated candidate of the PDP.

"We contested that position that No!, Olumide Aderinokun is the duly nominated candidate. You no the party was pularised during the congress but this particular part of my own client was regular with a party structure but they just wanted to go their own way and they went to court to claim it.

"But the court said their suit is not initiated in line with the due process of the law. The originated summon was not properly initiated and the same initial petitioner not known to law. And on that basic, the court struck out the suit", he stressed

When asked how the judgement will affects the judgement declaring all aspirants to have a rerun, Imhanruor noted that, "By the judgment of today, my client remains the candidate of the PDP".

"Incidentally, it is the same judge that give that judgment of last Tuesday and today. Now, in that particular judgment, the one of last week Tuesday I think that was on 27th of September the one of Seriki against PDP. The Court in that case refused to grant the release such that seriki and others against my client and others.

"However, the court then ordered that first primaries be held that will accommodate all the contending factions. In this particular one, the court declare jurisdiction. The court did not go to the demerit of the case because it declared jurisdiction that he doesn't have jurisdiction to hear the matter on the ground that the originating summon was not dully signed by legal practitioner known to law".

Meanwhile, in his reaction, the counsel to the plantiff, Barr. Abiodun Aboaba maintained that his team will speak on outcome of the judgement once he can assess the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgement.

"Commenting on the judgement will not be appropriate at the moment. Once we get the CTC of the judgement, I will let you know", Aboaba told our correspondent
