Amao Group of School Inter-House Sport Inspires the Launch of Oyo State Governor's Cup

The Oyo state government on Thursday launched the Governor’s cup in Ibadan. This was made known by the special assistant to the state Governor on student affairs, Hon. Victor Olojeda at the 9th Biennial inter-house sports competition of Amao group of schools Akingbile area held 21st February at the University of Ibadan, new stadium, beside Awolowo hall.



Speaking at the event, Hon Olojeda said, the Oyo State government is working towards encouraging youth in discovering their talents and to become an avenue to growing the state socio-economically to the best destination they aspired for.

The development of students is not just on academic pursuit but also putting in modalities towards all-round development with extensive use of sporting activities.

Similarly, the special assistant to the governor on Youth and sports, Hon Kazeem Bolarinwa admonished parents to continue to see to the greatness of their wards towards securing a better future for their children and also called on the youth to be visionary and be focused in whatever they do in life.

Hon. Bolarinwa who was lately awarded as one of the one hundred most Promising youth in Nigeria by Ooni of Ife.

Bolarinwa at the inter-house sports was awarded a great mentorship award to the youth presented by the principal, Alh. Abiola Ogungbade on behalf of the school proprietor, Eng. A.A Amao Ogungbade.

Also speaking at the event, the state chairman Athletes Federation of Nigeria Dr. Isaac Ogada said, coming to witness the inter-house sports of this school gave me the opportunity to encourage and scout for talent that will represent not only schools, Oyo state but Nigeria at large.

” It is my social responsibility to be around and my school, Bridgeville college was invited to test their level of fitness and preparedness for the national sports competition coming up in Edo state later in the year. A great name like Falilat Ogunkoya was discovered through school sports.

Dr. Ogada admonished the government to build more sporting facilities in the state to encourage growth and development of talents.

In his appreciation message, the proprietor and the chairman of the Amao group of schools Eng. Ogungbade commends the effort of everyone present at the event to mark the 9th inter-house sports of the school for a job well done.

Present at the event were officials of the National sports commission, Oyo state sports council, Local inspector of education, Akinyele LGA and other invited guests and school.

The event witnessed different sporting activities with invited schools taking part in the competition.

The event climaxed by announcing the winner of events, where Blue house emerged overall winner coming 1st, Greenhouse 2nd, Yellow house 3rd, and Pink held 4th position with the presentation of awards and medals to outstanding participants.
