NFF, Ministry of Sports engage LMC Over Death of Nasarawa United’s Player

The Nigerian Football Federation, (NFF) has directed that no match be played without proper certification of medical equipment and personnel in all football facilities across the federation.



NFF in conjunction with the Ministry of Sports during an engagement with League Management Company, (LMC) to review the circumstances that led to the death of Nasarawa United player, Chieme Martins Yesterday.

“The NFF has in conjunction with the Ministry of Sports engaged the LMC and reviewed the situation.


“As an immediate first step, the NFF has directed that no further match be played except there is a full complement of the medical equipment and personnel as provided in the NFF Club Licensing Regulations.

“All Match Commissioners and the host FA are to ensure they inspect all the facilities including carrying out test runs before giving go-ahead for any match to be played”, NFF tweeted.

Recalled that Martins slumped after colliding with his counterpart from Katsina United, a development that led his untimely death.
