Auxiliary to face the axe if harassment continues—Oyo works Commissioner

Traders, motorists, and residents of Ibadan have begin to raise allegations of harassment and torture against the Chaiman of the Park Management Disciplinary Committee, Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila, popularly known as Auxiliary.

Urbantrends gathered that Auxiliary and his boys have been abusing the power vested in them by the state government to harrass traders, impose illegal levies on motorists and torture motorists who don’t belong to their faction.
A motorist, who pleaded anonymity, explained to Urbantrends that Auxiliary’s boys allegedly attacked them at MRS filling station around Monatan area in Ibadan on Thursday.
According to the source, the moment he and other motorists at the filling station sighted about 100 Auxiliary boys, they ran away but some who were not so fast were injured by the boys.
Upon their return to the filling station less than an hour later; the only vehicle at the station owned by a motorist who does not belong to Auxiliary’s faction had been destroyed and a sum of N255,000 in the safe of the car was allegedly carted away.
He explained further, “Immediately after discovering that the vehicle had been destroyed and some money had been stolen, we went to report at Alabede Police station but they told us that area is under Adeniji Police Divison.”
“We then went to report at Adeniji Police station and some officers followed us back to the filling station the following day to inspect the vehicle.”
“The police confirmed that the attack was carried out by Auxiliary’s boys and referred us to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police at Iyaganku.”
He added that after reporting to the DCP, he told them to submit a petition on Monday to ensure proper investigation.
Some residents also alleged that Auxiliary boys now call him the ‘Deputy Governor’.
Meanwhile, in its reaction to the series of allegations levelled against Auxiliary, the State Government has threatened to sack him if he fail to call his boys to order.
The state government made the warning through the Commissioner of Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Raphael Afonja while speaking on Fresh FM.
According to the Commissioner, “No one is indispensable, I want to specifically warn Auxiliary to, as a matter of fact, check the excesses of his members or get fired, we won’t hesitate to bring other people on board.”
