Senators, House of Reps tell Buhari to do this to EndSARS protesters

Amid the rising tension over the nationwide #EndSARS protest, some members of the House of Representatives and senators have called on President Muhammdu Buhari to act by implementing some of the protesters demands.

According to Daily Trust, the Nigerian lawmakers made the appeal in a joint statement signed by four Senators and 35 members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, October 21.

While lamenting over the killings in several cities, the lawmakers stated that in the past two weeks they have carefully followed the protest across Nigeria.

They condemned the use of force and shooting of the protesters which allegedly led to the loss of lives and injuries.

The lawmakers said:

“We call on the President to address the nation and take concrete actions to respond to the demands of the protesters.”

This is coming a day after the Senate called on President Buhari to address the nation as #EndSARS protests continue nationwide with pockets of violence in some states.

The upper legislative chamber on Tuesday, October 20, appealed to the youth to stop the protests to enable the government to commence actions in meeting their demands, just as it directed the police authorities to deploy officers to protect peaceful protesters from attacks by hoodlums.
