Konymandibio Foundation Organizes Interschool Essay Competition in Ibadan




A Non-Governmental Organization, Konymandibio Foundation organized an inter-school essay competition for public secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government Area, Ibadan.


The competition organized in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology with the topic “COVID-19 Pandemic: Its Effects on the Education of the Nigerian Child” was held at Amao College Hall, Akingbile with over thirty schools in attendance.


Delivering his opening speech at the event, the Founder of Konymandibio Foundation, Alhaji Ogungbade  Abiola stated that the competition is meant to correct the impression that public school students are far behind compared to their counterparts in private schools.


According to him, “aside from the fact that the narration has to change, the world must be informed that public schools are full of brilliant students that can compete internationally.”


Representing the State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Oloyede Victoria commended the initiative  to improve the students while she advised that teachers should be given incentives for them to give their students the best.


“The reason for this initiative is to help improve speaking and writing efficiency in public secondary schools and also to help showcase talents in our much-maligned public schools as well as to draw confidence and eloquence from public students.


“More of these programs should be organized to improve the students generally Moreso encouragement and incentives be given to the teachers to empower them to give the students the best of ideas,” she said.


The winners of the competition are Akingile Oluana Grammar School with the first prize, Community Grammar School, Olanla with Second Prize and School of Science, Pade with the third prize.


Other schools that took part are Community grammar school sasa, C.G.S laniba, C.G.S Tose, C.G.S iyana, Aponmode high school, Aponmode grammar school, School of science Pade, Akingbile oluana grammar school, C.G.S Alabata, A.G.S agbirigidi, Ojoo high school, Army day secondary school.
