Hon. Jones Extends Kind Gesture To Over 3000 People With Free Eye Test, Glasses, Eye Drops, 500 Cataract Operation In Ogun

As part of efforts to reduce incidence of avoidable blindness in the society, at least no fewer than 3000 people in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital has benefited from the free eye test, eye drops, glasses and 500 cataract operation organised by Hon. Olumide Jones.

The Outreach took place at the Ake Centenary Hall, Abeokuta where "thousands of old and young people" who have issues with their sight were not only screened, but also given treatment, medications and free glasses in order to produce an environment filled with healthy ones.

To this end, the organiser of the project Hon. Olumide Jones disclosed that the program is just for two days and the rationale behind the project was one of his personal knowledge and believe that health is wealth adding that without sound health, people can not enjoy themselves.

Hon. Jones who spoke through one of his aide, Mrs Olajumoke Masha said the outreach is not limited to the numbers of people that were attended to today, saying that after about 400 people that have been reached out to, there's going to be another set of people to benefit in next day. 

According to her "Our target for today is 400 people, the surgery will be determined by the opticians, we believe this will have a positive effects on our people.

"This kind of programme rarely ever happen. This is an opportunity of people to open their eyes"

"This is like a first of none that is yet to come from people on the government . Olumide Jones is setting a pace , from here a lot of people should be seeing things that are needed to be done, Olajumoke concluded.

On his parts, the Senatorial Chairman Ogun Central Senatorial District of PDP, Hon. Akinlabi Taiwo appreciated Hon. Jones for organising the project adding that He (Jones) has been doing different projects in his constituents so far. 

His words "Let me thank Almighty Allah for this program and let me give thanks to Hon. Ladi Adebutu who is our principal in Ogun State and my thanks also goes to Hon. Olumide Jones who is bankrolling this project and by the special grace of God Allah will give him his heart desire.

"He is a great philanthropist and he deem it fit that their is a lot of eye problem within the society and he came up with this laudable project''.

"He think of what he can do to help his people who are downthrodden who doesn't even have money to do test rather than even buying drugs that promoted him to organize this program of eye medical surgery for downthrodden people.''

"I want to thank him very much for doing this for our people . This thing capture all other people from various party. Have seen people from APC that are right here queuing for this program, I want to thank him very well for this. He is projecting the People's Democratic Party very well because he is contesting on the platform of our Party.''

"Within our party some have donated many borehole, books to some people. Olumide Jones is distributing exercise books right now, he has constructed about 70,000 benches to be distributed to schools in Ogun Central Senatorial district, he concluded''.

One of the beneficiaries Mrs Bolatito on her commendation message lauded Hon. Jones for doing the project for free out of love.

According to her ''This is fantastic, many people problems are solved, we are given other necessary test that the nurses will do for us. I really appreciate Hon Olumide Jones for this kind gesture. 

She also charged other philanthropists out there who have power to support their people should not hesitate to do it, she stressed that Olumide Jones has done a great thing which she promised to drum her support and to also canvas for him if eventually declare for any political position thereafter.
