Deplorable Educational Infrastructure: Ogun Lawmaker, Egungbohun Seeks Assembly Speaker's intervention


Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Yewa North II constituency Hon. Wahab Abiodun Egungbohun has called on the Speaker Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo to help intervene over the deplorable educational infrastructure and the bad roads in his constituents.

The Lawmaker opined that the intervention would help the pupils of the affected schools in his constituents to enjoy better learning condition as there is no classroom for them currently to continue their academic activities.

Hon. Wahab also urged the Assembly to prevail on the State Ministry of Works to help rehabilitate roads in his constituency, which according to him were all impassable, which made him result to using motorcycle as a means of transportation whenever he visited his constituency.

The Lawmaker made the appealed during an interactive session at the Assembly complex Okemosan Abeokuta the state capital

According to the Lawmaker "In my constituency there is no single road that is in position of motorable, I can't use my car anymore as a result of bad road.

"I always use motorcycle most of the time which is not good for me and the people of my constituency are also complaining the same thing. 

"To prevent anything that will cause ransom from kidnappers, all these issues needs to be properly look into especially Ebute, Ijoun, Eggua and Ohunbe roads it's very bad for me to be using bike and I don't want the issue of being kidnapped."

"Mr speaker sir, I want you to use your office to tell the state Governor to assist in declaring state of emergency in ketu constituency road..

Hon. Wahab also appealed to the committee on the public account to invite the SUBEB chairman and other contractors that has been awarded the primary school building in his constituency.

He alleged the contractors for not completing those schools building that has been paid for through the state government, rather the contractors said they have finished it.

According to Wahab "I have the list with me, there are some school building in Asa, Ibeku, ohunbe there are some school building there which they have not completed but they always said they have finished it, the pupils of those schools have no choice than to seat outside the school class rooms which is not proper. 

"Mr speaker sir, we are in the raining season why are we punishing all these pupils, why the contractors punishing them, this is not good as they wouldn't be able to focus on their study but I believe the Governor has paid the contractors all the money but contractors refused to do it."

He explained that another budget will soon arise and he doesn't want it to meet this year budget saying that they have to finish it for the sake of small kids.

He therefore appealed to the anti corruption committee among the Lawmakers to please invite those contractors and investigate why they refused to complete those building.
