Comply With COVID-19 protocols to avoid another lockdown, Ogunsola Tell Nigerians

The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola has urged Nigerians to comply with the Covid-19 protocols to avoid another lockdown.

Dr. Ogunsola while speaking on a radio programme in Abeokuta, the state capital, said another lockdown will affect Nigeria's economy.

He urged the state residents to embrace the vaccination provided by government to avoid imminent lockdown.

He urged the people to embrace the non-pharmacological process of preventing the spread of Covid-19.

"Another lockdown will affect our economy. We should not pray for lockdown, it will affect our people, it will affect our economy, but I will only advise people to follow the covid 19 protocol.

"You could see that countries that have achieved 80% vaccination are still rushing for lockdown. That means, for people that have their two jabs, but the severity is not as much as for someone that has not taken Covid-19 vaccine at all.

"And there are various methods of preventing the pandemic. We have the pharmacological way of preventing it which is the vaccine and the non-pharmacological which is the use of face mask, washing hands, and keeping social distance. They should form our lifestyle as we move on because they are hygiene practices that will not only prevent covid-19 but other diseases and they will kill them."

Speaking on the relationship between the Orthodox and the traditional medicine practitioners in the state, Ogunsola said the state government has established the alternate medicine board coordinating the activities of the herbal practitioners.

"Ogun is blazing the trail with the relationship between the orthodox and traditional medicine. We have the alternate medicine board coordinating the activities and having an interface between the Orthodox field and the herbal practitioners."
