Jubilation as Ogun Govt. Presents Staff of office to Oloja of Oja Odan


It was a carnival atmosphere at the town hall of Oja Odan community area of Yewa North Local Government of Ogun State with the large crowd thronging the hall and it's environs. Many drummed, sang and danced.

Huge colourful billboards and banners of the new king were placed at strategic location withing the  community to proclaimed the installation ceremony.

Before the event proper, the crowd which hitherto was a trickle had transformed into a deluge as the young and old from the different parts of Oja Odan community besieged the venue of the ceremony. 

Present at the ceremony included the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, Onigua of Eegua land, Onimeko of Imekoland, Alademeso of Igan-Alade, Onijale of Ijale-Ketu, Oniwoye of Iwoye, Elebute of Ebute, Onisale of Isale, Alagodo of Agodo,Abepa of joga Orile, member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Yewa North II, Hon. Wahab Abiodun Egungbohun, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD) among others.

While presenting the staff of office to the Oloja of Oja Odan, Oba Oyebanji Adetunji Oladipo,  Olowobeshe Ilagbaa 1, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun expressed joy and pleasure to celebrate with the good people of Oja Odan and environs on the significant occasion of the installation of Oba Oyebanji Adetunji Olowobeshe as the Oloja of Oja Odan, in fulfillment of the Administration’s avowed commitment to bringing governance to the grassroot through the traditional institutions.

Governor Abiodun who spoke through the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Hon. Afolabi Afuape revealed that it's evidently that the magnitude of accolades that greeted the declaration of Oba Oyebanji Adetunji Olowobeshe as the Oloja of Oja Odan reveals that his appointment enjoys the overwhelming support of his people.

According to Hon. Afuape "The initial selection and appointment process into the stool of Baale of Oja Odan conducted in year 1999 was stalled by the death of Chief Ebenezer Olowobeshe, the Baale of Oja Odan then, few days to his installation. However, the nomination and selection processes that produced Oba Oyebanji Adetunji Olowobeshe as the Oloja of Oja Odan had followed the due process prescribed by the Chiefs Law, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006 as well as the customs and traditions of Oja Odan."

"I therefore say a big congratulation to our new Oba for overcoming the hurdles before emerging as the new Oloja of Oja Odan among all other contenders to the stool of Oja Odan."

He enjoined the good people of Oja Odan and its environs to cooperate with Kabiyesi in order to bring development to Oja Odan community,  also appeal to all members of the Ruling Houses of Oja Odan chieftaincy, particularly those who competed with the new Oba and their supporters to rally round Oba Oyebanji Adetunji Olowobeshe for the development of Oja Odan.

"At this juncture let me commend the good people of Oja Odan community for maintaining peace and tranquility since Chief Ebenezer Olowobeshe, the past Baale of Oja Odan joined his ancestors in 1999.  This clearly portrays that you are peace loving people and have put the interest of your community above personal interest."

"Kabiyesi , by your appointment as the Oloja of Oja Odan, you have become a member of the Yewa Traditional Council and accordingly, the custodian of the culture and tradition of Oja Odan.  You now possess a royal status to all and sundry in Yewa and as a father, you are expected to be accessible, receptive and responsive to your people’s yearnings."

"Your appointment is a call to serve your people, and as such, you are expected to champion all efforts that will further enhance peaceful co-existence with other neighbouring townships while also cooperating with other Royal Fathers within Yewaland and indeed, the entire Ogun State, in order to justify the mandate and trust reposed in you by the good people of Oja Odan and the Ogun State Government.  Your reign as an Oba in Yewaland should see to the creation and sustainable conducive environment for credible investors to do business in Oja Odan.  Let me inform you that as a Coronet Oba, your domain remains Oja Odan."

The Honourable commissioner also charged the new Oba not  to extend his authority beyond Oja Odan and not been authorized to install Baale over any settlement in your neighbourhood

"I wish to specially appreciate the leadership role played by our revered royal father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland during the period of absence of Baale in Oja Odan as well as the supportive role Kabiyesi performed during the selection and appointment process of the Oloja of Oja Odan.  Kabiyesi, as your reign in Yewaland has continued to witness tremendous development and unprecedented progress, I pray you live long and reign blissfully on the stool of your forefathers in good health and in sound mind"

"Also , let me appreciate the Onigua of Eggua, Yewa North Local Government, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Onitoro of Itoro for playing their respective roles to the success we are witnessing today."

"On  this note, it is therefore with a sense of responsibility that I present to Kabiyesi Oba Oyebanji Adetunji Olowobeshe, the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment as the Oloja of Oja Odan while I commit his reign to the hands of Almighty God.

On his acceptance speech, Oloja of Oja Odan, Oba Oyebanji appealed to the good people of the community saying that as there king, he's ready and willing  to provide proactive leadership and seek the support and solidarity of all contestants to the stool to achieve success. 

According to him "I enjoin all my brothers with whom we contested in the race for the coveted stool of Oloja of Oja-Odan to rally round my kingship and offer support where necessary to achieve the best for our fatherland."

"We  are all winners and should work together for the greatness of our cherished fatherland. I pray God Almighty and the spirit of our ancestors shall support us all in the tasks ahead to leave a worthy legacies for future generations coming after us."

"The race is over and a new dawn is here for all of us to work together in developing our common inheritance."
