NYP SPEAKER, YISHAWU, HARPS ON VALUES OF EDUCATION, URGES YOUTHS TO SEEK EDUCATION FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Azeezat Yishawu has appealed to Youths in the country to uphold the values of education for self and societal development.

Speaking on the occasion of the International Day of Education, 2022 that advances the course of education around the globe with the theme "Changing Course, Transforming Education", she admonished young Nigerians to always remember the benefits of gaining education.

Hon. Yishawu noted that every society that has achieved greatness placed so much value on education, adding that no society can sustain its development if it does not properly educate its Youths.

She said, "The values of education promotes tolerance and understanding above and beyond our political, cultural and religious differences, putting special emphasis on the defence of human rights, the protection of ethnic minorities and the most vulnerable groups, and the conservation of all communities.

"One of the benefits of education is that the educational system teaches us how to obtain and develop critical and logical thinking and make independent decisions.

"A person without education is a liability to the society, that is why getting education that enhances self development and sufficiency is one of the hallmarks of our administration at the Nigerian Youth Parliament.

"If Youths have spent years educating themselves, they will be able to make sound decisions on various quandaries. Not only are they able to form their own opinions, but they are also good at finding solid and reliable arguments and evidence to back up and confirm their decisions", she added.

She added that all forms of education including tertiary education, technical education, or vocational education all contribute to the development of a society.

Narrating how she has also benefited from being educated, Hon. Yishawu appealed to young Nigerians to take the issue of thier education seriously, saying that proper education lays the foundation for an assured future.
