APC Convention: Nigeria Ready For Tinubu - AATSG
This was disclosed by the national chairman of the Group, Otunba Abayomi Odunowo while speaking with journalists on the efforts of the group in respect of mobilising support for the former Lagos State governor.
Odunowo, a former senior special assistant to the last administration in Ogun State further stated that giving the parlous state of things in the country, Tinubu is the best candidate not only for the APC but the country at large.
The national chairman who recently was on tour of North East and North West of the country said with the support Tinubu enjoy on the other side of the Niger, the national leader of the APC will emerge victorious at the polls come next year.
"This country is at a crossroads. Next year's election is crucial. The very survival of our nationhood depends on it. We should channel our collective efforts to elect a visioner. Someone who has seen it all for the better part of four decades. Tinubu was a senator then became a governor and served with distinction in both capacities.
'Before his foray into politics, he was an accomplished professional having reached the pinnacle of accounting profession in a multinational oil giant.".
"During the struggles for democracy in the 90s, Tinubu was in the trenches with pro democratic forces especially NADECO. He took great risk to his life given the nature of things back then. Tinubu has seen it all.
"What he achieved in Lagos has stood the test of time. His infrastructure blueprint is still being implemented almost two decades after he left office.
" He is a builder of men. He doesn't care where you ome from as long as you can do the job, it's yours."
" That's the person Nigeria needs in 2023 to take us out of the present economic doldrums. He has the capacity and capability to assemble an A team and put them to task."
On his recent visit to the north west and north east, Odunowo said the people in these regions have fully embraced Tinubu and are ready to make him the next president.
"Maiduguri was great. The reception was unbelievable. The people, accommodating as ever welcomed us with open arms and pledged their loyalty to Tinubu's course. The movement is a moving train and we are so happy as a group to identify with hospitable people we met across the Niger."
"At every city or town we visited, AATSG members and other Nigerians in their legions pledged their support for Tinubu. The atmosphere was incredible."
Odunowo however warned that AATSG members and indeed all Nigerians should not relent in their efforts to make the dream a reality saying Nigeria's political experience does not give room for complacency because things can change very quickly in the country's political matrix.
On the challenges facing the APC as it gets ready for its convention, Odunowo said the internal challenges will be sorted politically saying a compromise will be reached amicably without the party imploding.
