2023: PRP Debunks Rumour Of Collapsing Structure For Tinubu

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election on Saturday, the People's Redemption Party (PRP) has debunked rumour going rounds that it has collapsed it's structure in support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Briefing newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday, the Ogun state Chairman of the party,  Samson Okusanya stressed that the party is still in the race to win, adding that it's presidential candidate remains Abdulateef Kolawale Abiola.

At the press conference included the State Governorship Candidate,Cyrus Johnson (Akinfenwa), the National Youth Leader, Comrade Jide Wolimoh among others members of the party.

Okusanya noted that it became important to address the rumour owing to the delicate nature of the matter, adding that the reputation, integrity and hard work of the party over the years is about to be undermined by indiscretions of some people.

"For the first time since 1983, the PRP is participating in a presidential elections and the visibility of the party across various levels is both encouraging as it is threatening to the antagonists of the common people who have continued to seize and remain in power for self enrichment and for the oppression of the masses.

"With a promise to bring liberation to the people of Nigeria, the PRP has fielded Gubernatorial candidates, Senatorial Candidates, House or Representatives candidates and House of Assembly candidates.

"This visible presence and growing acceptability of the PRP is threatening the positions of opponent political parties and as such they have chosen to deploy every means including, falsehood, lies and propaganda to smear the image of the PRP, in the hope that doing so will bolster their chances at the polls.

"But Nigerians are wiser and better informed to make political choices that aligns with their hopes and aspiration of a peaceful and prosperous nation and PRP offers that choice.

"The PRP has conducted Nationwide mass mobilizations, sensitization and Rallies as it builds momentum towards the election of Saturday, 25th February, 2023. Rallies have been held in all geopolitical zones and virtually all states of the federation.

"Today as we speak, the grand finale of the presidential rally is taking place in Kano as the party finalizes its campaign in line with INEC guidelines. The Presidential Candidate of the Party Mr Abdulateef Kolawale Abiola is still very much in the race and is positioned to coast to victory. A reality that unsettles the other actors from other parties.

"Therefore, the public is hereby urged to disregard any malicious rumor that the structure of the PRP at any level is collapsing itself to support any candidate outside of the political party, albeit one whose track record and character are questionable and puts him in contradiction to the values and ideologies of the party.

"The news of allegiance to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and or any other candidate is false, it’s in abhorrence to the values and principles of our party and investigations are on going to establish the complicity of the quoted officials, with view for punitive actions", he added

The chairman therefore called on its supporters to continue to canvass for its candidates across board as the deadline for campaigns draws to a close.
