Man arrested for alledgedly robbing church in Osogbo

The Osun Amotekun Corps, on Saturday,  said it arrested one Temitope Olojede, 41, for allegedly robbing a Cheribum and Seraphim Church at Ogo-Oluwa Area in Osogbo.

Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (Rtd.) Osun Amotekun Commander, made this known to journalists in Osogbo, adding that the suspect was apprehended after residents reported an ongoing robbery to the corps' command.

He said Amotekun operatives arrested the suspect at about 4.00a.m on Friday, when he was trying to make away with a sound system engine, microphones, drum sets and other items he allegedly stole.

"Our men received a distress call from one of the residents of Ogo-Oluwa that a church was being burgled and they needed the attention of our operatives urgently to arrest the suspect.

"Our operatives swung into action immediately and they were able to arrested the suspect while trying to escape the scene with his loot."  he said

Adewinmbi said during interogation, the suspect confessed to have been in the act of stealing for a very long time and that he had burgled and stolen from many houses in the area.

The corps commander,  however, said the suspect had been handed over to the police for further interrogation, investigation and prosecution.

He thereafter appealed to residents to continue to provide the corps with information that would help in curbing crime in the state.

He admonished residents to always speak up when they see or sense criminal activities in their environment,  saying security is the duty of everyone (NAN)
