Democracy Day: Hon. Owodunni Preaches Hope, Says Democracy has Come to Stay

The Member-Elect of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ikenne State Constituency, Hon. Babajide Owdunni has declared that celebrating the 24th Democracy Day in Nigeria is a pointer to the fact that democratic governance has not only been firmly rooted but also come to stay in the country.

Hon. Owodunni made the declaration in his goodwill message on the occasion of the 2023 Democracy Day and asserted that there is no better alternative to democracy as a form of government that gives the people the right to choose who to govern them and how they want to be governed.

He submitted that his victory at the election is a testimony of the confidence reposed in him by the people of the Constituency following the personal execution of various developmental projects for their social-economic wellbeing as indegenes.

Hon. Owodunni then extended a hand of friendship to those that contested against him in the March 18 election, saying that in the spirit of sportsmanship, they should join hands with him in the task of taking the Constituency to greater heights.

According to him, “We owe the current and future generations the duty of making Ogun State a better place to live in. We cannot afford to do otherwise, as posterity will not forgive us.”

He further said that the new mandate given to him by the people of the Constituency was a challenge to prove that his achievements in sponsoring empowerment programs for the people of the Constituency in the past years was not a fluke, he assured that he would prove that he had a plan to continue to work for the betterment of the socio-economic condition of the people of Ikenne State Constituency.

“Indeed, my intention is to positively make a difference in the lives and livelihood of our people, and at the end of it all, to lift the Constituency to a much better place than we found it,” he said.

While assuring that all previous empowerment programs will continue to receive robust sponsorship, Hon. Owodunni assured that various segments of the Constituency would be carried along with a view to giving them a sense of belonging
