Days To Election: Yet-to-be-identified Political Thugs Attack Home of Gov. Abiodun's Aide, Akinbode, Beats Wife, Destroy Properties  

Suspected political thugs on Friday set ablazed the private residence of Comrade Ifekayode Akinbode, the Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on media and publicity. 

The incident happened about 11:23pm on the said day, a week to the 2023 general elections.

It was gathered that yet-to-be-identified hoodlums in their numbers stormed the house, located at Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, the state capital and set the building ablaze. 

As at the time of the arson, two persons who were believed to be security guards, are trapped inside the generator house.

Comrade Akinbode who also serve as the Secretary, public communication committee for Tinubu/Gov.Abiodun Campaign Organisation for the 2023 general elections confirmed the attack on Saturday. 

The house was ridden with bullets and properties worth millions were destroyed by the hoodlums while Comrade Akinbode's wife, Remilekun Omoleye Akinbode and there children was at home when the attack took place was beaten and injured by the unmasked hoodlums. 

Our correspondent, gathered that the hoodlums also threatened

Comrade Akinbode's wife that her husband would have been killed if they have met him at home over his active involvement in the state politics.

The attack, our correspondent learnt may not be unconnected to Comrade Akinbode who was also a former Special Assistant to former State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and also a spokesperson to Governor Abiodun, staunch defense of government anytime he was invited on both radio and television live programs. 

While speaking from his hideout over the ugly incident, Comrade Akinbode who spoke with a trembling voice, said he was sad and shocked, adding that the attack was the second one in recent times. 

He said sometimes 2022, he was attacked and his cars were destroyed which made him to be out of the state for about two months for safety and "this recent attacked really made me sad because I see no reason why people are playing politics with bitterness." 

Comrade Akinbode said "It could be within the party or opposition parties because this is election period and anybody can hide under any political parties to launch that attack".

"I learnt my security guards were tied down throughout the operation and they were seriously beaten, both my security and my wife are in hospital for treatment, I actually don't know there condition but they're all in hospital now.

"They did this to me because I am a strong supporter of APC and I learnt they threatened to deal with me when they get hold of me."

"I have informed security operatives through the Commandant of Amotekun, the South-West Security Network, owned by the state government, Commandant David Akinremi and he promised to ensure that perpetrators of the evil acts were brought to book.

When our correspondent contacted Commandant David Akinremi for reaction, he said tactical team are currently working on the incident through the effort of Nigeria police, appealed to residents to also assist the police with useful information to get to the root of the matter and fully apprehend the hoodlums.
