OGUN TRADITIONAL HEALER ASSOCIATION CHARGES ON MODERN PRACTICE
The Ogun State Alternate Medicine Practitioners has admonished to embrace modern practices that would not only promote African Medicine but also be in line with the government's directive as well as the policy framework of World Health Organization (WHO) across the grass roots area of the State.
The Chairman Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Waliu Taiwo, a guest speaker who further enjoined members during the swearing - in ceremony of the new executive of Ogun State Traditional Healers Association (OSTHA) Heald at the State College of Nursing and Sciences Hall ,FMC Idi- Aba , Abeokuta, Ogun State, said they should prove their medical relevance to the people with modernism.
Hon. Taiwo, urged the practitioners in the sub- Sector to embrace and work in line with policy framework put in place by the Ogun State government to further advance the practice of Alternate Medicine for the common interest of the people.
He said " to provide affordable and qualitative Health care services to all the citizens of the State, sincerely this is an open secret, the scientific practitioners can not provide for all the medical services required for the people, so it calls for more hands and this is where you come in with modern concept and ideas that will attract more people into African Medicine."
In her own remarks, the Executive Secretary / Registrar Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board (OGAMB) , Dr. Kafayat Lawal , represented by Mrs. Ola Sobande , applaud the association for their good conduct since the creation of the board, while congratulating the new executives, she implored them to continue with their predecessors so as continue to promote the practice in the state.
Executive Secretary of OGAMB assured members of the association of government support at all time as long as they abide with all the rules and regulations of the the State with their compliance to register new members. She added that the present administration would not relented at promoting them to attain the world best practice.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman planning Committee OSTHA , Chief Oyenuga Emmanuel, appreciated the present administration for supporting the board, expressing gratitude to Almighty God for witnessing the day. He thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for his passionate concern for resuscitating Ogun State Alternate Medicine that had been in the record of the State as Agency since , "promulgated State Edict" 1990 no2 schedule 1 (Section 7). He also commended Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye for effectively managing the affiars of the board well.
Speaking on behalf of the members of the association, the Oba lsegun general for Remo, Chief, Olaseni Adeokun, appreciated the leadership of the pioneer Chairman OGAMB Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye for his active role in establishing the association and ensuring smooth transition among the members. "Kudos to the founding fathers for persuading us to listen to the representative of WHO in 1986 asking us to form the association purposely to take care of people health in an indigenous ways and manners as health sectors required more hands."
In his response, the new President, Ogun State Herbal Association , High Chief , Ademola Akanbi , appreciated members of the association for the great honour bestowed on him and other elected executive to lead the noble association to greater Heights. He requested for collective support of all members, particularly the out gone Exco, to ensure continuity of lofty ideas that would further entrench the vision of the association.
