GOVT, PRIVATE COLLABORATION: BUILT INDUSTRY CONSULTANTS PLEDGE SUPPORT


      The Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has welcomed the support pledged by a delegation of town planning consultants towards enhancing service delivery in the built sector.

     Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun made this declaration while receiving a delegation of the newly elected executive committee of the Ogun State Chapter of the Association of Town Planning Consultants (ATOPCON) in the Ministry’s Conference Room in Abeokuta.

Represented by the Director, Urban Development, TPl Rufus Talabi, Engr.  Abiodun, stated that collaboration with town planning consultants and other relevant bodies was essential as these bodies would interpret and implement the various developmental initiatives established by the Ministry and its agencies.

     “Town planning activities is in partnership with various practitioners. The professionals are the ones outside to implement whatever initiative the Ministry is providing, so we welcome them as we work together to promote the ISEYA agenda of the present administration”, Talabi stated.

Speaking, the Chairman, Association of Town Planning Consultants, Ogun Chapter, TPl Adebola Adelaja, stated that the courtesy visit was to foster a stronger relationship between the association as practitioners, and the Ministry as the government regulator of the industry, promising that its members would continue to uphold the tenets and principles of the profession towards ensuring diligent and proper planning in the State.

       “We believe that through an open and transparent interaction and communication, we can work together to address challenges, streamline processes and ultimately impact positively on the citizens we serve”, Adelaja stated.

       Also speaking, a former Special Adviser, TPL Stephen Adewolu, implored the Ministry to carry the association along in their processes, so that both parties can be on the same page as they strive to achieve common objectives of an orderly and planned environment
