OGSG TO PARTNERS WITH NOMAP IN PROVIDING 24/7 ELECTRICITY

Ogun State government has set in motion, plans to identify a viable cluster to enhance rural electrification programme and attract more potential investors to the state. 

          The Special Adviser to the Governor on Governor's Office and Technical Matters, Mr. Seyi Ogunseye, 

Stated this at the meeting with the team from the Nigerian Off-grid Market Acceleration Programme (NOMAP), at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta,

saying that the government, through the Ogun State Economic Development Plan and Strategy, has mapped out about 8 Economic Development Clusters and also developing policies, plans, and strategies for providing reliable power to these clusters and the state at large.

 This big picture is the government's commitment to providing 24/7 power in the state 
    Mr. Ogunseye said the Plan would support the state in increasing energy access especially for people in rural areas.

 On his part, his counterpart on Energy Matters, Mr. Oluwafemi Omisanjo, reiterated that both the state government and NOMAP are collaborating on supporting the state in developing the State's policy and law.

 Also mapping the state to identify the required solutions for the clusters.in order to boost electricity access and support economic activities in the state adding that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed after due consultation to boost economic activities across the state.


Responding, Mr. Adedotun Eyinade, a member of the NOMAP team, pledged the company’s support in solving off-grid energy, market intelligence, distribution of electricity and assist in documents implementation of the electricity policy and bills.
          Also in attendance at the meeting were, Consultant to the State Government on Energy Matters, Mr. Niji Aishida and Director of Rural Electrification, Bureau of Electrical Services, Engr. Adebayo, among others.
