Ogun ex-councillors beg Abiodun for severance package, furniture allowances, others





The 349 councilors under the Administration of  immediate past Governor of the State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun have begged the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun to pay their severance package, furniture allowances and their 2 months and 10 days salary.




The councilors who served the state between 2016 to 2019  vsited the office of the Governor, Okemosan, Abeokuta on Monday to appeal to Abiodun to pay them their entitlements.




Hon. Kayode Olumide from Abeokuta South Local Government who spoke on behalf of other councilors lamented that life had not been so easy on them




He pleaded with the Governor to graciously consider paying the accumulated entitlements, saying that fifty of them have died of different health issues and some of them are in hospital because they lack the money to take care of themselves.





Hon. Olumide begged Abiodun to approve and give directives for the payment of the severance package and other entitlements.




He said " We are here today to meet with our amiable Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, we know he has a listening ear. We want to first commend him for his good works in the State. We know our Governor is not around and that is why we have come here to meet you ma to help us pass our message to our amiable Governor that the Councilors who served between 2016 to 2019 came to visit him and to let him know that we are yet to receive our entitlements which are severance package, furniture allowances and 2 months and 10 days salary the Government is owing us.



“We are begging our Governor to approve and  direct the payment of these entitlements to us so we can be able to set up our selves and  life can be easy for us.


“It is with pains in our heart that we are prompted to come here this morning because life has not been easy for us" he concluded



They pledged their continued loyalty and support to Governor Abiodun led government, commending him for some of the achievements recorded under his watch.



Meanwhile the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele while addressing the councilors promised to deliver their message to the Governor, assuring them that the Governor will not fail them.




She urged them to remain calm and patient, saying that the Governor will surely look into their matter and solve it.



The Deputy Governor added that Governor Abiodun has been doing great work in the State, calling on them to support  him to take  the state to a greater height.



The councilors at the end of the meeting presented a  gift to the Deputy Governor and felicitated her on her 58th birthday celebration.
