Plea for Clemency on Planned Demolition along Ojoo-Moniya Axis—Concerned residents and stakeholders

Open Letter to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State

Subject: Plea for Clemency on Planned Demolition along Ojoo-Moniya Axis

Your Excellency,

Warm greetings to you, Sir. We commend your visionary leadership and the strides your administration continues to make in infrastructure and urban renewal across Oyo State.

We, the concerned residents and business owners along the Ojoo–Moniya axis, write to humbly appeal regarding the planned demolition exercise in our area. While we understand and support the need for road expansion and development, we are deeply concerned about the extensive setback metres currently marked on numerous properties. The marking, in many cases, cuts deeply into buildings that have long served as homes and business spaces, threatening to displace hundreds of families and entrepreneurs who have built their lives here over the years.

Your Excellency, this exercise, if carried out with the present measurements, will not only disrupt livelihoods but may render many homeless and jobless at a time of national economic hardship. We kindly plead that you review and reduce the required setback metres to a more humane and considerate range that still meets safety standards but minimizes loss.

Our people have always stood in support of your government, and we believe that with a compassionate review, you will continue to enjoy the goodwill, prayers, and unwavering loyalty of this community.

We trust in your wisdom and benevolence and pray that this appeal meets you well.

Yours sincerely,
Concerned Residents and Stakeholders
Ojoo–Moniya Axis, Ibadan
