Over 2,000 Benefit as DSS Foundation Completes First Phase of Health Outreach in Odogbolu

The DSS Foundation, led by Dr. Seun Sokan, has concluded the first phase of its Free Eye Care and Medical Outreach programme in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State, recording over 2,000 beneficiaries across various communities.

The three-day outreach provided free eye screenings, medical consultations, medications, and eyeglasses to residents, many of whom turned out in large numbers from towns and villages across the region.

The initiative  flagged off ceremony held at the General Diya Library in Odogbolu, where dignitaries including the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu LGA, Dr. Babatunde Diya, and the Gbegande of Ososa, Oba Dr. Toye, were in attendance to officially launch the programme.

Dr. Sokan, while addressing journalists, expressed that the initiative was inspired by his late father’s personal battle with vision impairment.

“The eye is the light of the body; without it, the body dwells in darkness,” he said.

He noted that the outreach is aimed at preventing others from suffering similar fates due to lack of access to proper eye care.
During the programme, over 140 cases of cataract were diagnosed.

The Foundation pledged to fully sponsor corrective surgeries for all affected patients at no cost.

Dr. Sokan further noted that this was only the beginning, with plans already underway for the second phase of the outreach, scheduled to commence in July.

He reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to improving the quality of life for underserved populations in Odogbolu and beyond.
