Oyo State Sets Pace as Nigeria’s Climate Action Leader — Ashamu”

The Oyo State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Barr. Temilola Seun Ashamu, has declared that the state is charting a bold path to become Nigeria’s leading sub-national model for climate action, sustainable systems, and green job creation.

Speaking at the Omituntun 2.0 Inter-Ministerial Briefing on Thursday, Ashamu emphasised that the Ministry’s mandate goes far beyond refuse disposal — it is driving sweeping reforms in urban waste management, climate resilience, ecological infrastructure, and environmental governance.

Highlighting Governor ‘Seyi Makinde’s commitment, Ashamu noted that Oyo State’s transformative agenda embeds sustainability at the heart of governance, aligning local action with global climate goals while creating economic opportunities for its people.
