INEC Releases Final List of Candidates for Ibadan North House of Reps Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of candidates contesting the forthcoming August 16th 2025 bye-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

According to the official document released by the State Office, five candidates will be on the ballot. They include Akin Alamu Dexter Femi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olatunji Haastrup Adewale representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), Odususi Olajumoke Olabisi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Oyekunle Fola Sunday of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Hammed Badmus contesting under the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The list shows a diverse mix of candidates in terms of age and qualifications, with the youngest being 42-year-old Oyekunle Fola Sunday of the PDP and the oldest, 78-year-old Hammed Badmus of the ZLP. Notably, Odususi Olajumoke Olabisi of APGA is the sole female candidate in the race.

The bye-election is expected to fill the vacant Ibadan North House of Representatives seat and promises to be keenly contested given the political weight of Ibadan North in Oyo State’s electoral map.

INEC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a free, fair and credible process as political parties intensify campaigns in the build-up to August 16.
