Femi Saliu's NGO Fetes Widows, Elderly Women In Sagamu

The Femi Saliu Initiative, a non-governmental organization, has been working tirelessly to provide support to vulnerable groups in Ogun State.

Through various humanitarian activities, the organization has catered to the needs of widows, the elderly, hospital patients, inmates, and underprivileged families across Sagamu and beyond.

Aside from the food items, the foundation also supported a physically challenged woman who lost her arm in an accident during her school days, as she received ₦50,000 in cash alongside food items to help ease her hardship.

In the past, and in line with its commitment to health support, Femi Saliu Initiative also visited the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, where medical bills were settled for patients while food items and other gifts were shared to brighten their recovery process.
The organisation also reached out to widows and struggling families through the distribution of food boxes, while several community members benefitted from a cash relief programme that provided envelopes containing ₦10,000 each for immediate support.

Also, market women and traders in Sagamu who demonstrated compassion to a disguised “madman” were rewarded with ₦100,000 each.
The foundation described this as a way of encouraging kindness and reminding the community that good deeds are never wasted.
Elderly citizens were celebrated in a special hangout that featured free medical checkups, food distribution, transportation support, and social activities aimed at fostering companionship and care for senior citizens. The Initiative said the programme was designed to honour elders and reinforce their place in society.

Through a collaboration with Kokun Foundation, more food boxes and relief materials were shared with beneficiaries, while a structured food bank drive ensured that supplies reached households most in need on a consistent basis.

The initiative also made a significant impact at a correctional facility by securing the release of 52 inmates whose fines and legal fees were settled. According to the organisers, the project was conceived to give the inmates a fresh start and a chance to reintegrate into society.
To mark the International Day of Charity, the foundation distributed cash gifts to selected beneficiaries, reaffirming its commitment to uplifting the less privileged and promoting a culture of generosity.

Speaking on the initiative, the convener, Mr Femi Saliu, enumerated the reasons behind the development while adding that it is to also reduce high levels of poverty in the community.

"The basic purpose of undergoing such initiative is to reduce the level of poverty in our society and to upgrade our people to balanced equation of life.

"There is need to get acquainted with our people and that by doing this sort of gesture, it's by the power of Almighty God and this has been able to be accomplished, glory be to His name", Saliu added.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to journalists said that the Femi Saliu Initiative is a good development for the widows, elders, and inmates.
"This sort of NGO is needed in our community, as this will help in raising the people in every area of life. Thank you, Femi Saliu Initiative, for this gesture. We really appreciate you", He said.

Another beneficiary among the inmates said, "The hand of gesture by the NGO is a blessing unto them, and they really appreciate it."
