7 More Arrested for Illegal Waste Dumping as Oyo Task Force Intensifies Crackdown

In its continued effort to enforce environmental laws and maintain cleanliness across the state, the Oyo State Environmental Task Force has arrested seven more individuals between last night and this morning for engaging in illegal waste disposal.

The offenders were apprehended at various locations within Ibadan metropolis while indiscriminately dumping refuse on road medians and into drainage channels — a practice the state government has repeatedly warned against.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the arrests are part of an ongoing enforcement exercise aimed at ensuring full compliance with Oyo State’s environmental sanitation laws. The Ministry emphasized that such acts not only deface the city’s beauty but also clog drainages, leading to flooding and health hazards.

Residents have been urged to cooperate with the Task Force by disposing of their waste properly through registered waste collectors rather than dumping refuse at unauthorized spots.

The Ministry reiterated that road medians and drainages are not dumping sites, warning that anyone caught flouting environmental regulations will face prosecution.

Oyo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to achieving a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment for all residents.
