Eight Offenders Arraigned for Breaching Oyo State Environmental Laws

 


Eight individuals have been arrested and arraigned for violating Oyo State’s environmental regulations through illegal waste disposal. The offenders were brought before the Environmental Court presided over by Barrister Wasiu, who emphasized the state government’s zero-tolerance policy toward environmental abuse.


Their actions contravene the provisions of the Oyo State Environmental Sanitation and Waste Management Regulation, 2013, which prohibits indiscriminate dumping of refuse and mandates proper waste disposal practices in accordance with Section 8 (1) and (2) of the law.


The Ministry of Environment reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment across all communities, warning that defaulters will face strict legal consequences. The Ministry further urged residents to comply with waste management guidelines and cooperate with sanitation officers to promote a cleaner Oyo State.
