Oyo Task Force Tightens Grip on Illegal Waste Dumping Offenders
In a renewed clampdown on environmental offenders, the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Task Force has apprehended four additional individuals for **illegally dumping refuse on road medians** within the Ibadan metropolis.
This latest arrest follows the earlier apprehension of five offenders earlier in the week, bringing the total number of those caught to **nine within a few days** — a clear signal of the government’s intensified commitment to enforcing environmental laws.
The Ministry reaffirmed that the ongoing operation forms part of the state’s wider effort to ensure **environmental discipline, urban cleanliness, and full compliance** with waste management regulations. It warned that indiscriminate dumping of waste not only tarnishes the city’s aesthetics but also endangers public health and the environment.
Residents were urged to adopt responsible waste disposal practices and report violators to the appropriate authorities. “Cleanliness is a shared duty,” the Ministry stated, stressing that every citizen must contribute to achieving a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Oyo State.
The Ministry further cautioned that anyone caught flouting the state’s environmental laws would be prosecuted accordingly without hesitation.
