Missed Penalty, Late Goals Sink 3SC as Enyimba Cruise to 3–0 Home Win

Enyimba FC tightened their grip at home with a commanding 3–0 victory over Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), capitalising on a crucial missed penalty and late goals to condemn the Oluyole Warriors to another disappointing away defeat.

The People’s Elephant took the lead through Ufere, who calmly finished to give Enyimba a 1–0 advantage in the first half. Just before the break, 3SC were handed a lifeline when they won a penalty that could have restored parity. However, captain Gbolagade’s spot kick was saved, a moment that proved to be the turning point of the encounter.

That miss deflated the visitors and lifted the home side, with Enyimba growing in confidence as the game progressed.

Despite holding firm for most of the second half, 3SC’s resistance finally crumbled late on. Edidong doubled Enyimba’s lead in the 85th minute, exploiting tired legs in the Shooting Stars defence. Deep into stoppage time, Michael put the icing on the cake in the 95th minute, sealing a comprehensive victory for the Aba giants.

The result left 3SC fans disappointed, particularly with the missed penalty that shifted the momentum firmly in Enyimba’s favour. It marked yet another frustrating away outing for the Ibadan-based side.

Attention will now turn to the next fixtures, where Shooting Stars will hope to bounce back, regroup, and rediscover the resilience needed to turn their season around.
