NYSC, NADDC Join Forces to Equip Corps Members with CNG Retrofitting Skills

Training Programme Opens Today in Abuja as Nigeria Pushes Cleaner and More Affordable Mobility

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), in partnership with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), is set to commence a CNG Retrofitting Training Programme designed to equip NYSC corps members with practical skills in converting vehicles from conventional fuel systems to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

The opening ceremony of the programme is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. today, August 11, 2026, at the NYSC Camp in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to expand youth skills development while supporting Nigeria's transition towards cleaner, more affordable and alternative energy solutions in the transportation sector.

Through the training, participating corps members are expected to gain exposure to the technical principles and practical skills involved in CNG vehicle conversion and automotive technology, potentially creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment beyond the National Youth Service year.

The programme brings together key stakeholders in Nigeria's youth development and automotive sectors, reflecting growing interest in developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting the country's emerging CNG and alternative-fuel ecosystem.
