FROM EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE TO LEGISLATIVE IMPACT: WHY OYO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY DESERVES TNA

A Reps candidate under 40, already tested across three ministries? That is not inexperience. That is fresh energy backed by proven capacity.

At just 31 years old in 2019, Barr. Seun Temilolu Nurudeen Ashamu (TNA), Omo Oloore, was entrusted with a historic responsibility as the pioneer Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Oyo State.

It was more than an appointment. It was a test of capacity, vision and competence.

And he delivered.

If we acknowledge the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Omituntun 1.0, then it is only fair to acknowledge the contributions of those who helped translate that administration’s vision into tangible interventions. TNA was part of that story, particularly in the energy sector, where he contributed to initiatives such as the Light Up Oyo project and other interventions that brought practical benefits to communities and public institutions.

But his story did not end with Energy.

He subsequently served as Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources and later Budget and Economic Planning—three demanding portfolios requiring different competencies and a broad understanding of government.

That trajectory says something important:

TNA is not coming to the National Assembly to learn the fundamentals of governance. He has already been inside the engine room.

His record also includes solar-powered interventions in 21 Primary Health Centres across Oyo State, including facilities in Oyo East, Oyo West, Afijio and Atiba.

At Kolobo PHC in Oyo West, for instance, the intervention provides electricity for essential medical equipment, including vaccine refrigerators and ultrasound machines, while improving lighting in delivery rooms.

That is the kind of intervention that demonstrates what public service should be about:

Identify a problem. Develop a solution. Deliver it. And leave something behind that outlives your tenure.

Yes, the incumbent representative deserves recognition for projects and interventions facilitated within Oyo Federal Constituency.

But representation should not end with project facilitation.

The real question is:

What more can our constituency achieve with stronger advocacy, deeper stakeholder engagement and a more deliberate investment in our people?

Representation should encompass youth empowerment, women development, education, healthcare, employment opportunities, skills acquisition, human capital development and strategic advocacy that can attract federal opportunities to Oyo.

And this is where TNA presents an interesting proposition.

He brings something that is often missing from our political conversations:

Youth + Experience.
Energy + Exposure.
Ideas + Executive Experience.

At an age when many people are only beginning to find their feet in public life, TNA had already managed government ministries, participated in policy formulation and experienced firsthand the complexities of translating policy into implementation.

Now imagine taking that experience from the Oyo State executive council to the Federal House of Representatives.

Imagine a representative who understands not just how to lobby for a project, but how government works, how budgets are formulated, how policies are developed and how opportunities can be strategically pursued for a constituency.

That is the opportunity before Oyo Federal Constituency in 2027.

This should not be about abandoning everything that has been done before.

We can appreciate yesterday while demanding more from tomorrow.

The 2027 election should be about asking ourselves a simple question:

Who has the capacity, experience, energy and vision to take Oyo Federal Constituency to the next level?

For me, TNA makes a compelling case.

A First-Class calibre young professional, tested in government, entrusted with three major ministries, exposed to policy formulation and implementation, and still young enough to bring fresh energy and a generational perspective to the National Assembly.

A Reps under 40 with this level of executive experience?

Honestly, I can’t wait to see what that combination can deliver.

Oyo Federal Constituency deserves more.

It deserves capacity.
It deserves competence.
It deserves fresh energy.
It deserves purposeful representation.
It deserves a representative who sees public office as an opportunity to serve—and a responsibility to leave a legacy.
