Ogun 2027: ‘Stop the Attacks on Yayi,’ Adesola-Tijani Tells Marcus-Bello

The Founder of Local Votes Empowerment (LOVE), Hon. Mojisola Adesola-Tijani, has urged the electorate in Ogun State to make competence and capacity major considerations in the 2027 governorship election, insisting that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi represents a candidate with the capacity to lead the state.

Adesola-Tijani, a former House of Representatives aspirant under the ruling All Progressives Congress and a grassroots politician from Ogun East Senatorial District, said the widespread acceptance of Senator Adeola is a reflection of his political reach, engagement with the people and the expectations of residents who want a candidate capable of providing purposeful leadership.

Reacting to recent comments credited to Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello concerning the APC governorship candidate, the LOVE founder urged her to stop what she described as unnecessary attacks and focus on issues that would contribute positively to the political development of Ogun State.

According to Adesola-Tijani, the 2027 governorship election should be about competence, capacity, experience and the ability of candidates to connect with the people, rather than attempts to question the personality or background of political opponents.

Adesola-Tijani said Ogun State needs a candidate who can represent the aspirations of its people and provide leadership capable of consolidating development across the three senatorial districts.

She maintained that Senator Adeola has built considerable grassroots connections over the years, adding that his supporters across Ogun State are attracted to what they regard as his political experience, accessibility and capacity to engage directly with communities.

“Ambassador Marcus-Bello should stop the attacks. Ogun people are looking for competence, capacity and a candidate who can truly represent their interests. That is the conversation we should be having as we approach 2027.

“Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi has supporters across Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West. The love and massive support he receives from Ogun indigenes are not something that can be wished away by political statements or personal attacks.

“What Ogun needs is a competent candidate who can represent the people, understand their needs and provide purposeful leadership. For us at Local Votes Empowerment, we believe Senator Yayi represents that aspiration and we will continue to support him,” she said.

The former House of Representatives aspirant further called on politicians and political actors in the state to embrace issue-based campaigns, saying the electorate deserves to hear concrete ideas on governance, development, employment, infrastructure, education and other matters affecting their communities.

Adesola-Tijani added that LOVE would continue to promote grassroots engagement and encourage voters to participate actively in the democratic process as the 2027 elections draw closer.

She urged Marcus-Bello and other political actors to allow the electorate to make their choices based on the records, programmes, competence and capacity of the candidates presented to them.
