AKINYELE/LAGELU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY DESERVES EFFECTIVE REPRESENTATION AHEAD OF 2027–Ismail Topman

The time for accountability, effective leadership and meaningful representation is now!. Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency deserves effective, accountable and people-oriented representation as Nigerians prepare for the 2027 general elections.

Unfortunately, concerns have been raised about the quality of representation the constituency has received since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in 2023. The people of Akinyele and Lagelu deserve a representative who actively participates in legislative proceedings, speaks on issues affecting constituents, attracts meaningful development projects, promotes employment opportunities for young people and ensures that the voices of the constituency are heard at the Green Chamber.

Evaluating the Incumbent's Performance: Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede, the incumbent Federal Representative elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, has faced questions from critics regarding his legislative contributions and impact on the constituency. Concerns have been expressed about his visibility in the House of Representatives, his participation in debates, his legislative initiatives and the tangible benefits his constituents have received during his first term.

Of particular concern is the need for greater transparency regarding constituency projects, youth employment initiatives and other development programmes. Constituents deserve clear information about projects facilitated, opportunities attracted and initiatives undertaken on their behalf. These concerns raise an important question: What measurable achievements can the people of Akinyele/Lagelu point to as evidence of effective federal representation since 2023?

As the 2027 elections approach, voters have an opportunity to examine the incumbent's record, assess the contributions of other candidates and demand accountability from everyone seeking their mandate. The forthcoming election presents an opportunity for the people of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency to reflect on the kind of leadership they want at the Green Chamber. Among the candidates seeking the position is Engr. Toheeb Adegoke (ADLAT) of the Allied People Movement (APM). His supporters point to his engagement with community stakeholders, his interest in the development of the constituency and his commitment to addressing the concerns of ordinary citizens. They believe his experience, capacity and antecedents deserve serious consideration as voters evaluate the available candidates.

However, every candidate should be assessed based on verifiable achievements, clearly articulated policies, leadership experience and realistic plans for the constituency. The people need representation that goes beyond political promises. They need a representative who will engage fellow lawmakers, advocate for the constituency's interests, pursue development opportunities and maintain regular communication with constituents.

The future of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency should not be determined by political party loyalty alone. It should be shaped by accountability, performance, integrity and the ability of candidates to address the real needs of the people. Our young people deserve opportunities. Our communities deserve development. Our businesses deserve support. Above all, our constituents deserve a representative who listens to their concerns, speaks for them and provides regular updates on the work being done on their behalf.

As 2027 approaches, the people of Akinyele and Lagelu must demand evidence, compare the records of all candidates and make informed decisions at the ballot box. Akinyele/Lagelu deserves representation that is visible, accountable and responsive to the needs of its people. The 2027 general election presents an opportunity to demand a higher standard of leadership and a renewed commitment to the development of our constituency.

As the people of Akinyele/Lagelu look towards 2027, Engr. Toheeb Adegoke (ADLAT), under the platform of the Allied People Movement (APM), is among the candidates seeking the mandate to represent the constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.
